In short
PadelTap collects no personal data, uses no tracking, and has no accounts, no ads and no third-party analytics. Scoring, statistics and workout recording need no internet connection at all.
One single feature reaches beyond your device: live sharing, which lets you show your score to other people. It is optional, has to be started deliberately every time, and everything it transmits is end-to-end encrypted.
What the app processes
Your matches and settings. Scores, player names, rules and settings are stored on your device only. They do not leave your device, except for syncing between your iPhone and your Apple Watch and — if you start it — for live sharing.
Health data. With your permission, PadelTap reads the workouts recorded by the app, along with the associated heart rate and active energy, from Apple Health, in order to show them to you inside the app. If you want, Apple Watch records your match as a workout and writes it to Apple Health. This data stays on your device and in Apple Health. PadelTap transmits it to no one and does not process it outside the app — not in live sharing either, which carries the score and nothing else. You can revoke the permission at any time in the Health app; the app will simply show less.
Syncing between your devices. iPhone and Apple Watch exchange the score directly with each other (Apple's WatchConnectivity). That connection runs between your own devices, with no server involved.
Live sharing (optional)
When you start "Share live", the app generates an eight-character code and opens a connection to a relay server. Anyone who enters the code sees your score in real time; if you choose, you can also let them keep score with you. Without that step, the app makes no outbound connection.
What is transmitted: the running score of the match. No names from your address book, no health data, no history, no device identifier, no location data.
How it is protected: From the code you hand out, every participating device derives the same key. That key never leaves your device and is never disclosed to the server. The score is encrypted on your device and only decrypted again on the other participants' devices. The server cannot read the content. It sees only a room identifier derived from the code — from which the code cannot be reconstructed — and the encrypted packets it passes along.
For how long: A room lasts at most six hours and is then closed automatically. The server stores nothing permanently — a room's state lives in memory only, for as long as the room exists, and goes away with it. There is no match database on the server and no history. You can leave the room yourself at any time.
Who operates the server: Jonas Mohr, Rickerter Weg II 26, 24782 Büdelsdorf, Germany — running technically on infrastructure provided by Cloudflare, Inc. (USA) as a processor. As with any request on the internet, the IP address of your connection is unavoidably visible in the process; it is not analysed and not combined with any other data.
What the app does not do
- No sign-up, no account, no login
- No ads and no advertising identifiers
- No tracking, no usage profiles, no analytics SDKs
- No passing of your data to third parties for their own use
- No location data
- No contacts
- No transmission of health data
Deletion
All data lives on your device. Delete the app and it is gone. Individual matches can be deleted in the history. Workouts written to Apple Health are deleted in the Health app. A live room disappears as soon as you leave it, and after six hours at the latest — there is nothing left to delete.
Children
The app is not directed at children and collects no personal data — therefore none from children either.
Changes
If anything about data processing changes, this policy will be updated beforehand. The date below shows the current state.
